Reba To Roll Out ‘Cowboy Dance Mix’

Reba.com | AllAboutCountry.com

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Reba performed a new song, “I Want A Cowboy”, from her upcoming album Keep On Loving You, during her recent show at Dallas, Texas’ new Cowboys Stadium. Clearly the song was appropriate to debut at what is the new home of the Dallas Cowboys.

And now, a special version of that song will be launched next week to hundreds of Country dance clubs in anticipation of Reba’s August 18th album release.

AllAboutCountry.com asked the superstar what led her to record the song and she said, “I’m a huge fan of Katrina Elam—I love her singing and I loved her album she had out a few years back. So I was listening to the album, and was talking to my producer Tony Brown, who had co-produced Katrina’s album a few years back, and asked him if there were any plans to do anything with the song ‘I Want A Cowboy’. Tony called Katrina and asked her if she had any plans for the song, and she said ‘No, I don’t think so—why?’. He told her I wanted to record it, and she thought that would be great. So we immediately went into the studio and cut it!”

Reba McEntire to Star and Narrate “Jackson Hole to the Max”

pitchengine.com

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Summertime in Jackson is about to get more interesting, with “Jackson Hole to the Max,” a 45-minute destination movie about Jackson Hole’s natural wonders, wildlife, history and extreme lifestyles. Reba McEntire, “The Queen of Country” herself was on location just last week filming scenes for the family movie.

Reba takes viewers on a cinematic thrill-ride that will entertain people of all ages. Viewers will experience wolves, bears, bison and other wildlife in their natural habitats with “Jackson Hole to The Max’s” close-up shots and large format, ultra Surround-Sound technology. Moviegoers will ride with the West’s most outrageous lawmen and desperadoes, witness reenactments of the local Native American tribes, first white explorers, bar fights at the Historic Wort Hotel and the fabled Pony Express. There are also segments on the area’s extreme sports, dangerous avalanches and the apocalyptic super volcano that rests beneath Yellowstone National Park; as well as never-seen-before historical footage of Jackson’s early residents.

Directed by Peter Israelson of Disney Co. and IMAX Corp fame, and produced by Jackson’s own Wink Inc. - the state’s premiere production company- this “Wildest Movie in the West” is more than just entertainment, it’s “edutainment,” or educational entertainment.

“It was a totally unique project for us to work on,” remarked Wink Inc. CEO Jason Winkler. “Peter’s creative vision was amazing and Reba is the perfect host. Everyone will enjoy this film- from four to 94 years old.”

Scheduled to open Memorial Day Weekend at the newly refurbished Pink Garter Theater, the film will screen daily on the hour from 10am to 9pm through the tourism seasons.

John Hoggan Sr., a partner in the project and owner of Jackson Hole Wildlife Co., is currently refurbishing the Pink Garter lobby with interactive educational displays and dioramas. He hopes the movie will encourage visitors to leave the theater wanting to explore the valley in more depth. “So often people come to Jackson and say, ‘What is there to do? Where can we go?’ said Hoggan, who thinks movie-goers will leave the film debating what activity to start with. “We love this special place and hope to be able to share a little of that love with the visitors, and with this great town,” he said.

The project is licensed as Jackson Hole Entertainment Adventures LLC.

Reba’s “Grand” Return To The Opry Stage

TheBoot.com

Monday, May 11, 2009

The first time Reba McEntire performed on the Grand Ole Opry, Dolly Parton cut into her time on the world-famous radio show. That didn’t happen Saturday night when Reba made her first appearance on the Opry since 2000.

The country icon performed four songs, including her new single, ‘Strange.’ The audience reaction was deafening when Reba was introduced. Fans clapped and sang along as she opened with one of her classic hits, ‘Why Haven’t I Heard From You.’

“This building is very important to me,” McEntire told The Boot just prior to her performance. “On September 17, 1977, I appeared on the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. My mama and daddy and older sister Alice drove in from Oklahoma to see me because it was a dream come true for the whole family.”

She then recounted her first introduction to Dolly. “Dolly pulled up unexpectedly and took one of my songs, but I said she could have both of them if I could just meet her,” the songstress said, laughing at the memory.

Reba explains that the Opry has always held a special place with her family. “When daddy was out working the rodeo circuit, he and mama would listen to the Grand Ole Opry. This was the only place the McEntire family every came on vacation, was to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry.”

After her performance on Saturday, Reba was presented with the Opry Member Award, commemorating her 1986 induction into the Opry family by the Opry’s Pete Fisher. The statue is a replica of the old Opry microphone with the stand made of wood taken from the Ryman Auditorium. The singer was delighted with the miniature microphone and stand.

Reba’s first album for the Valory Music Company, ‘Keep On Loving You,’ will be in stores August 18.

Reba McEntire’s new album (Keep On Loving You) promises to be ‘funky, sassy’ (Due out Aug. 18th)

Brian Mansfield, USA Today

Friday, May 01, 2009

Reba McEntire credits last year’s tour with Kelly Clarkson for changing her perspective on choosing songs for her album, due Aug. 18.

“I think that my song selections are a little more hip,” she says. “I know they’re more uptempo. They’re funky, they’re sassy, they’ve got attitude.”

McEntire recorded the still-untitled album with Tony Brown and Mark Bright, best known for his Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts productions.

“Tony did the country swing, the more bluegrass song, and the funkabilly I Want a Cowboy. Mark did the more contemporary songs that I think are stupendous.”

The album will include Keep on Loving You, co-written by Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn.

“They didn’t put that on their album, and I said, ‘Good Lord! Why not?’ ” McEntire says.

“I said, ‘Ronnie, if you’re not going to put that on your album, would you let me have it?’ He thought about it for a long time, then he finally said, ‘You can have it.’ “
