Summertime in Jackson is about to get more interesting, with “Jackson Hole to the Max,” a 45-minute destination movie about Jackson Hole’s natural wonders, wildlife, history and extreme lifestyles. Reba McEntire, “The Queen of Country” herself was on location just last week filming scenes for the family movie.

Reba takes viewers on a cinematic thrill-ride that will entertain people of all ages. Viewers will experience wolves, bears, bison and other wildlife in their natural habitats with “Jackson Hole to The Max’s” close-up shots and large format, ultra Surround-Sound technology. Moviegoers will ride with the West’s most outrageous lawmen and desperadoes, witness reenactments of the local Native American tribes, first white explorers, bar fights at the Historic Wort Hotel and the fabled Pony Express. There are also segments on the area’s extreme sports, dangerous avalanches and the apocalyptic super volcano that rests beneath Yellowstone National Park; as well as never-seen-before historical footage of Jackson’s early residents.

Directed by Peter Israelson of Disney Co. and IMAX Corp fame, and produced by Jackson’s own Wink Inc. - the state’s premiere production company- this “Wildest Movie in the West” is more than just entertainment, it’s “edutainment,” or educational entertainment.

“It was a totally unique project for us to work on,” remarked Wink Inc. CEO Jason Winkler. “Peter’s creative vision was amazing and Reba is the perfect host. Everyone will enjoy this film- from four to 94 years old.”

Scheduled to open Memorial Day Weekend at the newly refurbished Pink Garter Theater, the film will screen daily on the hour from 10am to 9pm through the tourism seasons.

John Hoggan Sr., a partner in the project and owner of Jackson Hole Wildlife Co., is currently refurbishing the Pink Garter lobby with interactive educational displays and dioramas. He hopes the movie will encourage visitors to leave the theater wanting to explore the valley in more depth. “So often people come to Jackson and say, ‘What is there to do? Where can we go?’ said Hoggan, who thinks movie-goers will leave the film debating what activity to start with. “We love this special place and hope to be able to share a little of that love with the visitors, and with this great town,” he said.

The project is licensed as Jackson Hole Entertainment Adventures LLC.
